Professor Melhem El-Kik is a Lebanese academic with extensive experience in teaching and advising the financial authorities of Lebanon. He specializes in banking and financial law, insurance, financial markets, corporate governance, contract and company laws, money laundering and regulatory issues.
He has acted as in-house counsel to the Central Bank of Lebanon and Deputy Director of its legal department from 1994 until 2012.
He was part of the Central Bank’s Committee for the Modernization and Development of Banking and Financial laws at the Central bank of Lebanon and participated in this capacity to the drafting of most of the financial laws and regulations issued between 1994 and 1998.
Prior to joining the Central Bank of Lebanon, Dr. El-Kik practiced at the Lebanese Bar and as in-house counsel to a prominent Lebanese bank between 1990 and 1993.
Professor El-KiK acts as an independent academic consultant to SAAS since 2013.
